David Albert Phee , age
63 of Antigonish passed away on May 29, 2020 in the R.K. MacDonald
Nursing Home. Born in Antigonish, where he resided his whole life, he
was the youngest son of the late Mary Agnes (Medley) & James
Phee.
David was a
hard working and loyal employee of St. F.X. University for a number of
years, until he took early retirement due to illness. He had a deep
love for his family and friends. He especially loved his nieces and
nephews who referred to him fondly as Uncle Dave. He proudly displayed
photographs of them and their children in his room. David
possessed a unique sense of humour that was contagious to all those
around him. He had a kind spirit and loved the simple things in life
that so many of us often take for granted. David enjoyed talking to
people, following sports player trades and stats, watching sports on
tv and collecting sports memorabilia. Early in his life he enjoyed
dancing to his favourite music. In his later years, he loved listening
to Leonard’s music or to Ty Wallace singing his favourite
song "The Gambler."David was an amazing listener and enjoyed
hearing what others had to say. He was a people pleaser as well and
liked to jokingly tease others to keep the mood in a room happy and
upbeat. He really was a ray of sunshine in any room.
Although David suffered with his health for many years due
to a chronic illness, he maintained a positive attitude and always
looked at the good side of everything. He was loving, kind, and
patient and enjoyed life’s little pleasures. It was these
small things, like eating his favourite treat "cheeses" that
his Sister Joan provided for him while playing his break-open tickets,
and the bright smiles and affection he received from the staff at
Tanglewood where he resided happily for the later part of his life
that brought him much enjoyment.
He is survived
by his sisters, Joan Phee, Antigonish and Bette (Mike) Salsman,
Kentville; Godchild, Charity, as well as a number of nieces and
nephews.
He was
predeceased by brothers: Norman, John Sr. And Edward; sisters: Ida,
Mary Ann and Linda.
