William Gerard MacLean, age 69, Lower South River, passed away peacefully at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital on Sunday, August 30, 2020. Bill was born in North Sydney, on August 20, 1951. He was the middle son of the late Archibald Daniel MacLean and Elizabeth Isabel (MacDonald) MacLean.

He was a mechanic for 30 years and participated in roles within CAW Local 4525 and in later years a school bus driver.

Bill was raised in Antigonish. He loved driving, fishing, hunting, back-roading, camping and making pizza for family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bowling, curling and snooker and spend countless hours with his children at the rink, the golf course, the baseball and football fields.

He leaves behind his wife of 40 years Mary Patricia (Pat) (MacIsaac), sons Bryan (Julie) and Craig (Bevin); grandchildren: Rene, Landon, Cheyenne, Jocelyn, Ashlyn, Luke, Louis and Logan; sister Mags (Joe) MacDonald; brothers: John, Doug (Leah), Donnie, David (Kathy), and sister-in-law Maureen Coady.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, from 9:30-10:30 am in St. Andrew Church, St. Andrews NS. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be limited space at the private Funeral Mass with Reverend Andrew Gillies presiding. A recording of the funeral will be made available shortly after the service.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Andrews Cemetery Fund.
