Mattie, John Theodore "Jackie", age 76, of
Monastery, Antigonish County, passed away on September 5, 2020, in the
Intensive Care Unit of the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late John and Anna
(Delorey) Mattie.
About Jackie in general, he was an honest, simple man. He was
a hard worker, loved children, some might say that he’s the
type of man that he would give you the shirt off his back to help you
out.
He is survived by his sons, John Horne (Charlene), Monastery;
and Terry Horne, Ottawa; grandchildren, James, Darren, and Lily Horne
and Johnny Mattie; two great grandchildren, Laylah and Haven Mattie;
brothers, Ray (Geraldine), Bernie (Lorna), Earl, Gerard (Gaye), and
Everett (Rose), all of Monastery; sisters, Theresa Vierimaa, Toronto;
and Ann Delorey, Ellen (Ed) LaRiveria, and Diane (Terry) Cromarty, all
of Alberta; niece, Cathy (Alvin) Bowman, and many other nieces and
nephews.
Predeceased by his wife, Florence Horne; daughter, Bernadette
Horne; brother, James "Jimmy"; sister, Christine Flanagan,
and Catherine and Anthony in infancy.
There will be no public visitation. Funeral Mass
will be held Friday at 1:00pm in St. Peter’s Church,
Tracadie, Fr. John Barry presiding. Burial in the parish
cemetery. Social distancing protocols must be followed, and
masks are mandatory. Attendees will be required to provide
their names and phone numbers at the church. The service
will be recorded, and a link will be made available on the funeral
home’s website shortly after the service.
Family flowers only, please.

family.
