Brown (MacDonald), Margaret Mary, of Antigonish, Nova Scotia passed away in Enfield on September 20th, 2020 at the age of 90.

Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Dunn) MacDonald.

Margaret was a remarkable lady who was resilient and had a sharp wit and sense of adventure.  She was predeceased by her husband Sid in 1972, and since that time she raised her eight children to be independent, allowing each forge their own path.  As her children spread their wings, so did she.  After the graduation of her youngest son, she moved to Toronto for her own adventure.  Not one to shy away from hard work, Margaret held off retirement until her early 70’s, having worked at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish, The Halifax Infirmary, and CTV Atlantic (ATV).  Margaret then went on to provide home care for seniors.  Margaret was an avid reader, who enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, and road trips.  If the car is going, she would say, "I better be in it".

She is survived by her children, George Brown (Sharron), Regina, SK; Mary Ellen (John) van Bommel, Grand Myra North, Cape Breton; Arthur Brown, Halifax; Kevin (Sherry) Brown, Regina; Heather Ryall, Toronto; Allister Brown, Brampton; and Howard Brown (Motoko), Niigata, Japan; son-in-law, Gary Ramsdale, Toronto; her grandchildren, Paul, Stephen, Sid, Sarah, Sean, Shannon, Dawn, Jessica, Savanna, Caitlyn, and Scott; her 10 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Edwin MacDonald, Burlington, ON; Francis (Evelyn) MacDonald, Antigonish; Ellen Roy, Antigonish;  Robert (Elaine) MacDonald, Antigonish; and sister in law, Tilly MacDonald, Antigonish.

Besides her husband, Sid, she is predeceased by her son, Lloyd; and her siblings, Joe, Tony, and Betty.

Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, Saturday, Sept 26th from 2-4 pm.  Social distancing protocols must be followed, and masks are mandatory.  A Celebration of Life will be held in Ontario at a time when the immediate family can all come together.
