Power, Cecilia Mary (Kinney), age 102, born in Linwood, NS.  On Christmas Day, Dec 25, 2020 our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother, passed away peacefully in St. Martha's Hospital with loving family members present.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: William Power (Eileen), Shirley Lavers (Ed), Marcella DeGruchy (Charlie), Joan Blackman (Bruce), Nadine Felix (Dave) and Linda Pinkney (Steve), as well as 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; as well as her sister Alice Fiander, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents William and Martha (Flavin) Kinney; brothers Charles, John, James and Duncan, as well as two brothers in infancy; loving husband, William Power; son Patrick Power; and her grandchildren, Michael Lavers, Conrad DeGruchy, and, sadly, she was shortly followed in death on Dec 26 by granddaughter Erin Blackman Nunez.

She will be remembered for her love, energy, hard work, thoughtfulness, and discipline, all of which were beneficial to helping us on our journeys.

She worked very hard on their beautiful property on Linwood Harbour raising her family. She also worked at St. Martha's Hospital for over 20 years and formed many lasting and special friendships while there.

Cecilia loved travelling and was fortunate enough to have family members live in different parts of the world over the years. Some of her favorite adventures included two trips to Ireland with family; numerous trips to Virginia, and Ontario, and occasional trips to the Dominican Republic, Central America, North Carolina, and Alberta to visit her children, grandchildren and their families. She also had some very memorable train trips.

She was an avid baker, making the best apple pies and strawberry jam. She also loved to knit, gifting mittens, sweaters and so many special things to family members.

She was one of the biggest fans of the Toronto Blue Jays and loved her old Country Music. In her later years she always enjoyed local drives, particularly to Whycocomagh for her favourite bread and pastries. Cecilia had an incredible green thumb, taking great pride in her beautiful flowers.

‘Grandma’ loved making cherished memories with her family during Christmas and will be dearly missed by so many.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions there will be no public visitation.  Funeral Mass will be in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie on Saturday at 11:00 am with Reverend John Barry presiding. Funeral service will be recorded and made available on this website late Saturday afternoon. Cremation to follow.  Burial at a later date.  Online condolences: www.clcurry.com.
