The funeral Mass for Gladys Jane Mattie of Antigonish and formerly of Tracadie will be held privately for the family due to health and travel concerns related to COVID-19.

In lieu of attendance, you are invited to make a donation in Gladys’s name to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation or the Galilee Centre, 398 John St N, Arnprior, On K7S 2P6.

 

 

Mattie, Gladys Jane, age 96, of Antigonish and formerly of Tracadie passed away on January 18, 2021, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Myette) DeCoste. 

Gladys was a retired member of the CWL, Parish council, and Parent/Teacher association in Tracadie. She loved her family and was always up for a get together, dancing, or cooking for family and friends. She was always ready to get an extra plate(s) at her table on a minute's notice. 

She is survived by her children, Heather (John) Pettipas, Barbara (Eddie) Bonvie, Gregory, Theresa (Eric) Goodyear, David (Laura); daughter-in-law, Anne Marie; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and her most recent great great granddaughter, all of whom she adored; sisters, Marie and Patricia, and sister-in-law, Verda. 

Predeceased by her husband Francis; sons, Andrew, Donald, Roy, and Hughie, and daughter-in-law, Norma. 

Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a funeral Mass will be held at a later date with burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Tracadie. In Memoriam, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society appreciated.
