Leonard James MacDonald, 75 of Pomquet, Antigonish County, passed away very peacefully at home, on March 26, 2021, surrounded by his wife and family.

Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late Leonard B. and Mildred (Venedam) MacDonald.

Len received his education on various Air Force bases across Canada. He was a great reader and an avid outdoorsman, and while his passion was fly fishing, particularly for salmon, his greatest love was his grandchildren and he lit up when he spoke of them.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yolande (Biron); daughters, Lori (Mike) Wirvin, Ipswitch MA; Michelle (Nairn) MacDonald, Calgary AB; son, Leonard, Antigonish; and twin sons, Mark (Nicole), Pomquet; and Michael (Jennifer), South Side Harbour; brother, Wayne (Paula) MacDonald; sisters, Charlene Long, Rochelle (Robert) Benoit, Jocelyn Landry, and Kimberly MacDonald; grandchildren, Kate, Rudy, Sophia, Malcolm, Maggie, Emma, Aiden, Brennan, Ciara, Damon, and Elyssa

He was predeceased by his parents and infant son John James.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Len’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to family physician Dr. Bill Booth, Dr. R. MacCormick, and Dr. M. MacKenzie and a very special thanks to Heather Brander and all the nurses in the Oncology Unit at St. Martha's Hospital.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation (Oncology) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
