Morais, Fortunat Joseph "Tony", age 76, of
Frankville, Antigonish County passed away on July 27, 2021 in the Port
Hawkesbury Nursing Home.
Born in Saint-Sauveur, NB, he was a son of the late
Honoré and Graziella (Rouselle) Morais.
Called by many as one of the best welders in the Maritimes,
Fortunat was a DIY man extraordinaire. He not only did
everything himself, but he built the tools he needed to do the things
himself. He built his home with the help of his three small
children. He was a man of few words, but his wisdom,
humility, and sense of humour made you remember what he
said. Fortunat enjoyed singing and playing guitar and was a
nature lover and craftsman who made over 80 walking canes from fallen
branches that he gathered in the woods.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Duguay); children, Nadine
(Allan) Turner, Hebbs Cross; Joël (Crystal), Frankville; and
Renée (Phil), Saint John, NB; grandchildren, Kaylyn,
Keegan, Taylor, Rochelle, Reannah, Clara, and Maggie; great
granddaughter, Lily; and thirteen brothers and sisters.
Predeceased by his brother, Frank; and sister,
Françoise, in infancy.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 9am to 12pm in St.
Paul’s Centre, Havre Boucher. A private family
funeral will be held Saturday at 2pm with a recording available for
viewing later in the afternoon on the funeral home
website.
In Memoriam, donations to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care
Society appreciated. Funeral arrangements are under the
direction of C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish.
