Phee, Louise Catherine "Weezy", age 79, of Antigonish passed away on September 1, 2021, at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, NS.

Born October 18, 1941, in Sydney, NS she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Mary (MacPhee) Downes.  She was raised by her foster family, the late Alexander and Ida Mae (Reddick) Ash of Monastery, NS.

Married to John Francis Phee on June 20, 1964, together they raised 9 children.

Louise approached everything she did with hard work and dedication. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, and was well known to make the best homemade biscuits and bread.

Louise was an avid fan of wrestling and enjoyed fishing, bingo, playing cards and sharing stories over a hot cup of tea.

She will forever be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her surviving sons, Michael Downes, Halifax; Johnny (Sylvia), Antigonish; Paul (Sherry), Halifax; daughters, Brenda, Guysborough; Barbara (Steve), Antigonish; Janice (Leo) Donovan, Ingonish Beach; Donna (Jason) Glazier, Bathurst, NB; Carla (Leslie) Rogers, Calgary, AB; Linda (Doug) McLean, Antigonish; 22 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; and one brother; Peter Joseph Downes, Edmonton, AB.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John Francis and grandson, Jackson Thomas Phee-Donovan.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.  Social distancing protocols are in place, and masks are mandatory.  Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11:00am in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Reverend Daniel MacLennan presiding.

As per Louise's wishes, cremation will follow. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at St. Martha's Regional Hospital and the Highland Crest Home staff for their compassion and kindness during Louise's difficult journey.
