Donna Marie Warren, age 66, of Antigonish, passed away
peacefully on December 3rd, 2021, in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, with her family by
her side.
Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late Donald
and Georgina (MacMillian) Grant. She worked at Marie’s
Flowers for 17 years where she loved getting to greet everyone who
entered the store. She took great pride in her flower arrangements and
loved telling people she was a florist. Prior to working at
Marie’s Donna was the best stay at home Mom. For 24 years
she babysat many children in her home. She loved each one of them as
if they were her own.
Donna enjoyed life to the fullest. She wanted nothing more
than to be surrounded by her large extended family enjoying and
celebrating life. Many nights were spent gathered in a kitchen,
sitting around a campfire or out by her pool enjoying a few drinks and
telling stories. She loved to laugh and have fun and no one made her
laugh more than her cherished best friends Donnie MacInnis and Kathy
MacIntyre.
Donna and Willard spent 49 years together. In
Willard’s words, "She was the best girlfriend, the best
wife, the best mother, the best grandmother and best friend." She
never missed an opportunity to go exploring the back roads with him.
Donna would never let the truck leave the driveway without her as a
passenger. Her family use to tease her and call her "Georgie
Grant" as her mother was exactly the same. They spent many road
trips hauling their camper to PEI and around the province with the
gang. Camping trips will never be the same without her being involved
in the trip planning stages.
Donna loved her grand children more than life itself. They
had her heart and soul. She was an amazing fun Nana who had incredible
patience, and her happiest moments were when her house was full of her
grand babies. She always greeted them at the door as she would stand
in the window and watch and wait with excitement. When the
time came to leave, she would stand in the driveway and watch the car
drive down the street. Her love for her family was beyond
measure.
Donna will be missed by so many but welcomed home by so many
more. There will always be a little piece of Donna’s huge
heart and soul in everyone she has touched.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years Willard Warren,
children Kelly (Duggie) McPherson, Cambridge; Jeff (Julie), New
Glasgow and Donald, Antigonish and grandchildren Jack, Jennifer, Ches
and Connor; brothers and sisters; Eva (Bill) Timmons, Antigonish, Jean
(Dave) Slade, Amherst, John (Carolyn) Grant and Jim (Lisa) Grant,
Antigonish and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
In the words of Donna to her son Jeff just days prior to her
death, "Live life like it’s your last
day."
Visitation will be held Monday from 6pm to 9pm in C.L. Curry
Funeral home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be
Tuesday at 11:00 am in St. Ninian Cathedral. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
