Theriault, Yvonne Elizabeth "Betty", age 74 of Antigonish passed away on May 12, 2022, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Mount Stewart, PEI, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth "Libby" (Laybolt) French.

Betty was loved by all and a staple in the Maryvale community, spending 25 years on the 4 Valleys Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  Betty loved bingo, bluegrass festivals, and was happiest when she was surrounded by friends and family. Working at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home allowed her to enjoy what she loved doing most, taking care of everyone.  Betty’s heart belonged to her grandchildren, they were everything to her.  She also loved knitting hats and mitts for babies and donating them to the many children’s hospital units in Nova Scotia.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Arthur; children, Sheila (Greg) MacDonnell, Dartmouth, Kevin (April), Antigonish; Nancy (Robert) Sheehan, Merigomish; Angie (Lloyd) Lynch, Ketch Harbour; and Matthew (Kimberly), Antigonish; grandchildren, Andrew, Mallory, Laura, Olivia, Daniel, KristyAnn, Rebecca, Tyler, Rebecca, Samuel, Abigail, Bria, and Cohen and one great grandchild, Rachel.  Betty is survived by brothers William (Marion) and Charles (Sheila), both of Prince Edward Island.

Predeceased by son, Alfred; brothers Leonard, James, Ross, Francis, and David; and sisters, Pearl and Mary.

Cremation has taken place.  Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 21st, at 10:00am in St. Mary’s Church, Maryvale, Reverend Andrew Boyd presiding.  Burial in the parish cemetery.

In Memoriam, donations to St. Martha's Regional Hospital Foundation are greatly appreciated.  Special thanks to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital for the ongoing care and support they have provided over the years, Betty had grown close to many of the nurses and doctors who always made sure she had the best care.  Also, great appreciation to Dr. Cudmore who went above and beyond as her family physician, our family is truly grateful.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish.  Online condolences:  www.clcurry.com
