Doiron, Wm. Dominic, age 93, of Pomquet, Antigonish County passed away peacefully in the John MacLellan Palliative Care Unit of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital on Monday, August 15, 2022.

He was born in Pomquet to the late Henry and Julia (Venedam) Doiron on February 23, 1929 sharing this date with his late dear mother and a niece.  After losing his father at the age of four, Dominic realized early the valuable lessons and rewards of hard work and taking pride in a job better than done well.  At age eighteen, he began a career in carpentry that took him to all corners of our dear province and locally working alongside his fellow carpenters and sharing his knowledge and love of his trade.  He will be remembered as a man full of wisdom, with a logical approach and a truly kind heart.

On July 26, 1955, he married Marie (Rennie) and for the next sixty-seven years they enjoyed and cherished sharing their lives together raising their loving family of six children while living next door to the homestead where he was raised. Always welcoming family and friends for a visit and genuinely asking how all were doing in their lives and giving the secrets of growing a bountiful garden, especially zucchini, even in his last days.

Dominic, dad, was a man that liked to keep busy by doing for others and believing that everyone and everything has a purpose in this life. Whether it was his trips on the gator over to the farm or up the hill to take in the view, fixing things that others couldn’t fix or just watching the passing of days from his rocking chair next to the window, he valued everything and everyone. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family as a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marie (Rennie); children, Linda (Bill) Chisholm; Virginia Doiron; Kenneth (Marie); Neil; Andrea (Brendan) Jeffrey; Blaise (Marnie); grandchildren: Joe (Melissa); Aimee (Mike);Duncan (Lauren); Megan; Courtney; Kelsey; Tyler; Kyle; Rennie; Silver and Fisher; great grandchildren: Amelia, Lydia and Caleb; sisters: Rita Landry, Mary Cormier and Adele Benoit; brother, Francis.

He was predeceased by sisters, Margaret, and Anna; brothers Georgie and Leo; sisters-in law, Josephine and Stella; brothers in law, Joseph Landry, Alex Landry and Robert Cormier; grandchild Michael Dominic.

Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Tuesday, August 16th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.  Funeral Mass will be in Ste. Croix Church, Pomquet on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Reverend Andrew Gillies presiding.  Burial in the parish cemetery.  Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.  Online condolences: www.clcurry.com.
