With heavy
hearts, we announce the death of Catherine ‘Caddy’
Isabel MacGillivray of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, who passed away on
January 13, 2023, at the age of 85 in St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital, Antigonish. Caddy was pre-deceased by
her husband John Alexander.
Born in
Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Sara (MacDonald) Falkenham
and Kimball Falkenham. When Caddy was five years old,
Kimball remarried Catherine MacInnis, who raised her as her
own.
Caddy was very
social with a young heart. She appreciated family and
friends. She was there for her family as they grew older and
made many new and amazing friends at the Antigonish Manor, where she
also hosted many visits with her loving
sisters.
Caddy was also
a wonderful cook and baker. There is currently a lively
discussion around what sibling is to be the beneficiary of her well
used cookbooks, roller pin and bread pans.
Caddy is
survived by her daughter: Bernice (Eraldo) D’Angelo,
Burnaby, B.C. and five sons: John "Jackie" (Trixie),
Antigonish; Cyril A. (Donna Marie), Truro; Gerard (Karen), Gaspereaux
Lake; Melvin (Kathryn), Cape George; and Paul (Charlene), Enfield; 18
grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and siblings, Albie
(Carolann), Ernie (Theresa), Mary June (Carroll), Dan (Florence), Sara
(Gerard), Kathleen (Neil),
Bernie,(Karen).
Caddy was
pre-deceased by twin sisters Mary Rose and Christina Agnes and twin
brothers Lloyd Joseph and Gerald
Morris.
A grave-side
ceremony and burial will be held at St. Columba Cemetery in Lakevale,
Nova Scotia, at a later date.
Finally, the
family would like to thank Bernadette, Marcella, and Karen
(daughter-in-law) for all they have done for
mom.
Donations in
memory may be made to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital
Foundation or the charity of your choice.
