Lafreniere, Joseph Guy "Andre", age 69, of Antigonish passed away on January 25, 2023, at home.

Born in Ottawa, Ontario, he was a son of the late Joseph Laurent and Fernande (Auclair) Lafreniere.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by sisters Louise Lafreniere, Ottawa, Francine Lafreniere, Ottawa and Denyse Lafreniere, Montreal.

Andre moved to Antigonish, with his wife, Marjorie in 2016. He was instrumental in the fund raising for the new Farmer’s Market building in Antigonish. Before retirement he worked as the Economic Development officer for the City of Kawartha Lakes, Ontario as Technology Trade show manager for Reed Elsevier Exhibitions, Toronto. He enjoyed gardening, researching Quantum physics, walking the beaches in Cape Breton, always coming home with his pockets full of treasures - mostly rocks. He was kind and always helpful in any way he could be, curious about everything, loved telling stories and spending time with his wife's family and playing with the children

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (MacLeod); brother, Pierre Paul Lafreniere, Ottawa; sister Suzanne (Roy) Smith, Galiano Island B.C.; sister in-law, Diane Theuerkauf, Antigonish; nieces: Marie Josie Comeau,Ottawa and Rachelle Comeau (Marc Girouard), Ottawa; Chantal Comeau (Chris Hopps), Pakemham, Ontario; Amber Smith, Vancouver Island, BC; Bethany Theuerkauf - Samson (Chris), Antigonish; Breanna Gordon (Jason), Grande Prairie, Alberta; nephews: Robin Smith, Vancouver, BC; Ben Theuerkauf (Alice ), Halifax; Dan Theuerkauf, Halifax; grand nieces Carolyn and Manon Girouard , Ottawa; Gracie and Abby Gordon, Grande Prairie, Alberta; grand nephews Samuel and Benjamin Samson, Antigonish; Noah and Gabriel Gordon, Grande Prairie; Leo and Oliver Theuerkauf, Halifax.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place in Framboise, Cape Breton this summer.

Sincere thank you to Dr. E. Chiasson who is so caring and she persisted in finding out what was ailing Andre. I appreciate everything she has done for us.
