MacDonald, Leo Joseph "Leaky Leo", age 84, of Antigonish passed away suddenly on February 28, 2023, at home.

Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Henry and Josie "Flynn" MacDonald.

"Leo the Plumber" was well known in town, starting with Silver & Hanifen before owning his own business of MacDonald’s Plumbing and Heating.  He was a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and a former Grand Knight, as well as a 60-year member of Arras Branch 59 of the Royal Canadian Legion.  An avid outdoorsman, Leo enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, and he also enjoyed country music and going to the dances.  His boisterous personality will be missed during the gossiping at Tim Horton’s.  He is finally reunited with his son, Shane.

He is survived by his daughters, Shawna (Gerard) MacDonald, Antigonish; Sonya (Jim) Clarke, Calgary; and Sheena MacDonald, Thunder Bay; grandchildren, Kyle MacDonald and Kayla MacDonald, Antigonish; and Luke and William Clarke, Calgary; sister, Elizabeth MacDonald, Antigonish; brothers, Gordon (late Helen), Greenwood; and John (late Shirley), Antigonish; sister-in-law, Shirley MacDonald; and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his son, Shane (4); former wife, Sandralea; and siblings, Lawrence (Patsy), Everett, Harry (Roberta), and Peggy (Donald) Steeves.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.  Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 2:00pm in St. Ninian Cathedral, Reverend Danny MacLennan presiding.  Burial in the parish cemetery in the spring.

The family would like to thank all the emergency responders and Leo’s neighbour, Chris, for all of their efforts.

In Memoriam, donations to Arras Branch 59 of the Royal Canadian Legion appreciated.
