Paulette, Terry Gordon, age 62 of Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Antigonish Wellness Centre.  Terry was surrounded by the love of his life of 39 years, Levi Paulette, and his family and close friends.

Terry was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and was the only son to his mother Helen Landry (Atwell).   He was a baker by trade and was employed at the Halifax Dockyard & Willow Park as a baker and at Greenwood Lane as maintenance in Halifax for several years. In 1998, he moved to Paqtnkek and was employed at the school both off and on reserve as a one-on-one teachers aid for his nephew, Marcus.  He was also a baker with Sobeys, Antigonish for 7 years.  Terry was one of the original VLT clerks with Paqtnkek Entertainment Centre when they opened in 2011, then he later became Night/Weekend Manager from 2020 – 2023.

In their 39 years together, Levi & Terry faced every obstacle and barrier with strength, courage, and love. Witnessing a love so strong between two people is the most beautiful sight to see. Terry was not only Levi’s partner for life but a brother, uncle, godfather, cousin, and a best friend to so many including Josie Poulette (Geoff), Theresa (Joe) Melanson, Cathy (Eddie) Bates, Mary Ann Dort, and his "Teddy Bears", Tanya Francis (Pat). Terry was a person who held nothing back when it came to friendships. He was the strength, comfort, and reassurance you needed, and he always kept it real with you, no matter who you were.

Besides his husband, Levi, Terry is survived by his mother, Helen Landry (nee Atwell), Halifax; his one and only sister, Judy Logan (Tim) of Calgary AB; niece, Amy, and nephews, Cavin and Jonathon, all from Calgary.  He will also be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, Mary Catherine Lafford, Mary Poulette- Taylor (Mike), and Josie Poulette (Geoff), all of Paqtnkek, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his Aunt Anita "Peggy" and Uncle Robert "Bobby" Craig of Halifax, mother-in-law, Jessie Denny and father-In-law, William Poulette, both of Paqtnkek; sisters in law, Diane and Cecilia; and brothers-in-law, Alex and Richard.

Visitation will be held Monday in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.  There is no funeral scheduled at this time, and burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery on Summerside Road/Welnek at a later date.

The family would like to thank the VON, the palliative care team, Dr. Rice, Trish and Pam, Amanda Workman, Occupational Therapy and Respiratory Therapy, and the Palliative Care Unit at St. Martha’s Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish.  Online condolences:  www.clcurry.com
