Johnson, Jacob "Jack" Vaughn,
Antigonish/Halifax
On October 9th the world lost a bright
light when Jacob (Jack) Vaughn Johnson passed away while travelling in
Barcelona, Spain.
At just 32 years old, Jack packed more life, laughter, and
friendship into his years than most could imagine. He lived with
energy, curiosity, and an unshakable zest for life. Whether he was
planning his next trip, rallying friends for an adventure, or simply
sharing stories around a campfire or dinner table, Jack had a gift for
turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories.
In his final years, Jack lived to chase the next big wave and
find the tucked-away corners of the world that most will only see in
pictures. Travel became more than just a hobby for Jack; it became his
way of connecting with the world, with people, and with himself. His
adventures left him with a passport full of stamps and a heart full of
stories. Everywhere Jack went, he made real friendships and meaningful
connections. Jack had an indescribable way of making everyone feel
important, seen, and loved.
Some of Jack’s most defining years were spent
following in his mother’s footsteps, attending St. FX
University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2017 and
continued with the university to obtain a master’s degree.
Jack successfully defended his thesis from across the globe and was
awarded his master’s degree in Earth and Environmental
Sciences from St. FX University in May 2025.
And yet, for all his hard work and adventures, Jack was never
far from the people he loved most. His friends and family were his
anchor – his home. Jack was an endlessly fun and devoted
son, brother, nephew, grandson, cousin, and friend. He took pride in
being a role model his loved ones could count on. His presence was
more than just family; it was friendship and unconditional support all
rolled into one. He was proud to be involved in countless weddings, a
true testament to the deep and lasting relationships he nurtured. His
heartfelt toasts, steady presence, and genuine joy for
others’ happiness will be remembered by all who were lucky
enough to know him.
He loved big. He laughed loud. He lived free. And now in this
moment of great loss, we hold on to those memories. We remember the
joy he brought into our lives. The way he inspired us to take the
leap, to book the ticket, to ride the wave, and to truly live. Jack
may no longer walk beside us, but his spirit is woven into every laugh
we share and every sunrise that reminds us how beautiful and fragile
this life really is. Let us honor him not only with our grief, but
with our living – keeping his memory alive by loving as
deeply, laughing as freely, and chasing life as fearlessly as he
did.
Rest easy, Jack, you gave us more than we could ever put into
words. We miss you deeply and we will love you forever.
Born June 26, 1993, Jack was the beloved son of Paul Johnson
and the late Mary Lynn Glencross. He is survived by his sister Lily
Johnson (Nathan), his Grandmothers Betty Glencross and Joyce Johnson,
and his many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by
his loving mother Mary Lynn Glencross; his grandfathers, Richard

(Dixon) and Robert Glencross, and his uncle Robert
Glencross.
