Peter Allan DeGruchy
DeGruchy, Peter Allan, 86 , of Havre Boucher passed away on March 30, 2013 at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home.
Born in Havre Boucher, he was a son of the late Allan A and Mary C.(Fougere) DeGruchy.
Peter was retired from Stora Forest Industries, Port Hawkesbury where he worked for twenty-five years. He began in the Material Handling Department and then moved on to the Steam Plant and became a Recovery Operator. He was later posted to the Plant Protection and Maintenance Departments. Peter is given credit for restoring Pioneer Cemetery which was Havre Boucher's first cemetery. He worked tirelessly on this project for many years. He was an avid woodsman and a founding member of the Winter Wonders Snowmobile Club.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Angela (Levangie); son David (Monica), Havre Boucher; grand children Laura and Richard; brothers: Andrew (Barbara), Havre Boucher; William (Madeline), Frankville; sister in law; Colleen DeGruchy and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Marie; brothers: Alexander and Edward and a sister in infancy.
Visitation will be in St.,Paul's Centre, Havre Boucher from 7 to 9 pm on Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday. Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Paul's Church on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Reverend Allan MacPhie presiding, Burial in the parish cemetery.
