DOUCETTE,
Sister Louise, (85) formerly Sister
Regina Therese, a Sister of St. Martha of Antigonish, died at Bethany,
the motherhouse on Monday, March 17, 2014. She was in her
52nd year of religious
life.
Born in Quinan, Nova Scotia,
Sister Louise was the daughter of the late Adolphe and Regina
(Doucette) Doucette.
Sister Louise was the oldest
in a family of twelve. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by
brother, Albert. She is survived by sisters, Dorothy Conrod, Zoe
Kopetsky, Adeline (Joseph) Doucet, Cora (Henry) Caza and Lucie
Doucette; brothers, Paul, Henry, Basil (Judy), Jules, and Camille
(Rita),
Louise entered the
Congregation of the Sisters of St. Martha in February, 1960,
pronounced her first vows in 1962, and made her perpetual commitment
August 15, 1967
Throughout her religious life
Sister Louise ministered in the congregation household services. She
served as homemaker for thirty-four years in local houses in Trenton,
Heatherton, Guysborough, Eskasoni, St. Andrews, Canso, Ingonish,
Antigonish and New Waterford in NS; in Ottawa, ON, and Kamloops, BC.
For a period of six years she served on the Bethany housekeeping team.
In 1992 Sister spent a year of renewal at Galilee, Arnprior, ON. She
retired at Bethany in
2004.
During her life of faithful
service, Sister Louise had the ability, in a quiet manner, to bring
the outside community into her life. She was noted for her culinary
contribution to wakes and other parish
functions.
The remains will be resting at
Bethany, beginning on Thursday, March20 at 1:15 p.m. A Celebration of
Vigil will be held on the same evening at 7:30. Liturgy of Christian
burial will take place on Friday, March 21, at 2:00 p.m. Bethany
Chapel.
