MacEachern, Mary " Rita" 87, of Monastery, Antigonish Co. passed away peacefully on March 27, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimers at the Milford Haven Home for Special Care in Guysborough.

Born in Boylston, Guysborough Co., she was the daughter of the late Joe and Charlotte (Cook) Grant of Boylston.

Rita belonged to the Foster Parents Association of NS for over 40 years and lovingly raised many children. She was a charter member of the St. Peter's Parish CWL, Tracadie. Rita was an animal lover who enjoyed card plays, bingo, spending time at the camp, fiddle music and many shopping trips to KTV. She spent the last six years at Milford Haven and the family would like to thank their staff for the wonderful care and attention they provided.

She is survived by children: Ray (Diane), Havre Boucher, Grant, Moncton, NB, Allen (Carol), Stellarton; Cedric, Monastery; Donald, Mississauga; Madonna (Tony) Boucher, Monastery; Jim (Gizelle), Monastery; Greg (Sarah), Monastery; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Leo, son Bernie, daughters in law, Diane and Ethel, sisters: Theresa "Bookie" Levy, Nita Uloth, Pearl Grant, Gertrude DeCoste and step brother Earl Peart.

Visitation will be in St. Peters Place Tracadie on Sunday, March 30th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11:00 am in St. Peters Church, Tracadie, Rev John Barry presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.
