CHISHOLM, LAUGHLIN "LAUCHIE" JOSEPH, 90, of Heatherton, Antigonish County passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 18, 2014, at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Heatherton on April 14, 1924, he was the son of the late Jack Dan & Mary Anne (Chisholm) Chisholm.

Lauchie was a construction foreman with Nova Scotia Power Commission for 38 years and with his own crew constructed new power lines from Yarmouth to Cape North retiring in 1984. He was a life member of St. Ninian's Council 1105 Knights of Columbus, and a member of the former Parish Council, Heather Club 60 and Highlander Curling Club. He was an avid card player (or so he thought) playing bridge, crib & 45's. He greatly enjoyed card games with his senior friends in Heatherton and Pomquet. Interested in sports, he played county league softball and hockey and in later years coached the Heatherton Warriors to a number of championships.

Lauchie is survived by his wife of 62 years Mae (Doyle) Chisholm, nine daughters Lorna (Leo) Shattler, (children Brendan, Bryan & Lauren), Gatineau, QC; Marian (Curtis) Walsh, (children, Andrew & Monica), Calgary; Diane (Ian) MacDougall, (children, Steven, Sara & Tim), Brierly Brook; Bonnie (Jerry) VanOirschot, (children, Garett, Blair & Nancy), Ashdale; Marcia (Brian) Doiron, (children, Kelly, Brent & Emily), Antigonish; Joan (Les) Willis, Penticton, BC; Judy (Jerome) Fraser, St. Andrew`s; Shannon (Anthony) Morell, (son, Peter), Pomquet; Kathy (Malcolm) MacKinnon, (children, Ryan & Patrick), Heatherton; 2 sons, Shaun (Charlene), (children, Tyler & Daniel), James River; and Kevin, Heatherton; 2 great grandchildren, Jaren Shattler & Mack Shattler, brother Pat (Joan), Toronto; sister Mamie Rogers, PEI; sisters-in-law, Agnes Chisholm, Heatherton, and Mary Chisholm, Halifax; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Donald, Eugene (Clarita), Colin, Ernie (Helen), sisters, Betty (John V.) Chisholm, Bernadine (Willie Dan) MacDonald, Mary (Bud) Gilbert, Sarah (Cameron) MacFarlane, Theresa (Lauchie) MacDonald & Jovita (John) Chisholm, and Helen in infancy.

Visitation will be from 2 -4 & 7 - 9, on Sunday July 20th in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish with funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton on Monday, July 21st at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Charles Cameron officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
