Simon, Sandra Anne, 59, of Paqtnkek Mi'kmaw Nation passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2014.

Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Steve and Annie Christina (Googoo) Simon.

Sandra worked as an outreach worker, adult care provider, and quillbox instructor in Paqtnkek.  She was an artist for Friends United.  She had many quillboxes around the world in places such as the Vatican, Germany, Australia, and throughout Canada and the United States.  One of her baskets was presented for the canonization of Pope John Paul II.

She is survived by her daughter Cheyenne Julian and special granddaughters Kathleen (Matt) and Angeline Denny, Paqtnkek; sons, Stephen (Meranda) Julian, Indian Brook, Darren (Amanda), Wagmatcook, Chris Sylliboy and Peter (Brenda) Julian, Paqtnkek, Jonathan and Jarret Julian and families, Wagmatcook; chidren, Matthew Peters, Virginia Sylliboy, Christina Simon, and Mary Ann Dort; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Simon, Connecticut, and Margaret Rose Simon, Paqtnkek; grandchildren, Amelia, Rebeka, Scarlett, Carleigh, Keagan, and Brolly; and great grandson, Lyam Lewis Denny.  Also survived by best friend and colleague Margaret Ashe and special godchild Cote Peters. She was a mother to many of our friends in the community.

Predeceased by her companion Maggie; brothers James, Stephen "Dio", and Kenneth, and her ex-husband James Julian.

Visitation will be held Sunday after 5pm at 1688 Afton Road, Paqtnkek Mi'kmaw Nation until the time of funeral .  Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 11:00am in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, with Reverend Charles Cameron presiding.  Burial in St. Ann's Cemetery, Summerside Road.
