Steele, Dougald Allan, 68, of Lower South River and formerly of Lochaber, passed away on Sept 20, 2014 at home.

Born in Glace Bay NS, he was a son of Marie (Voyez) Steele and the late Allan Steele.

Dougald worked for many years at MacKenzie Sales Ltd. of Halifax before moving to Lochaber, where he worked as a truck driver for Bluewave Energy for a number of years. He was a volunteer firefighter and retired chief of Lake Echo Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his family and friends, enjoying music, fun and laughter. He had a soft spot for old cars and spent many happy hours restoring his 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak, which he brought home in the back of a dump truck. When he wasn't tinkering he liked to watch old TV shows, especially westerns and Jackie Gleason's Honeymooners. TO THE MOON, ALICE!

Besides his mother he is survived by his loving wife, the former Patricia Flemming; daughters Kim, Maple Ridge BC; Nadine (Chris), Chezzetcook; grandchildren John, Savanah, Travis, Brooke and Grace; brothers John (Diane) MacIntyre, Lower Sackville; Harvey (Dale) Steele, Minesville; Joseph Steele, Antigonish; sister Linda Combden (Gerald Greening), Dean; numerous nieces & nephews and many extended family members.

Besides his father, he was predeceased by his grandson Morgan.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Oct 11, 2014 from 12:30 pm until time of Funeral Mass at 2:00 pm in St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's, Antigonish Co. with Father Alphonsus Ik Iwuji officiating.
