CHISHOLM, ALEXANDER ANTHONY
"SANDY", 71, Summerside Road, Heatherton, Antigonish County
passed away peacefully on September 26, 2014 in St. Martha's Regional
Hospital, Antigonish surrounded by his loving
family.
Born September 6, 1943, he was
the son of the late William A. and Gladys (Spooner)
Chisholm.
In 1968 Sandy went to St.
Catherine's, Ontario where he worked as a labourer's helper for a
short time. Upon returning home, he worked as a fisherman's helper and
woodsman, but most of all he was a dedicated stay home boy on his
parents farm. He was also employed as a labourer on roadwork with N.S.
Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Cape Breton
Fiddlers' Association and the Antigonish County Fiddlers. He was an
avid bingo and card player and did volunteer work for the Heart and
Stroke Foundation and the Kidney
Foundation.
Sandy is survived by his wife
of forty-three years, Theresa Marie (Bowie); daughters: Pamela Rutley
and her son, Aidan Alexander, Banff, Alta; Jennifer (Frank) MacMaster
and their daughter, Courtney Lauren, Ohio, Antigonish Co.; Crystal
(Jeff) Smith and their son, Steven "Avery", Dunmore; Kelsie
Chisholm, Dartmouth; Megan Chisholm, Ottawa; and his "6th
girl", Brandy; brother: Wilfred (Pauline), Summerside Road;
sister: Cecilia Grace, Sherbrooke; Margaret
(Marvin)Robbins, Barney's River; Evelyn (Donald) Chisholm,
Farm Road; twin sister, Jean Fisher, Calgary; Veronica (Ronald)
Peitzsche, Canso as well as many nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by brother
John A; sister, Nancy; sister in law Jovita; brothers in law Frank
Pettipas, Dan J. MacDonald and Howard
Grace.
Visitation will be in C.L.
Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Sunday,
September 28th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral will be in
Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton on Monday at 11:00 AM with
Rev. Charles Cameron, Rev. Daniel MacDonald and Rev. P.J. Baccardax
presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be
made to NS Heart & Stroke Fdn.; Canadian Cancer Society or St.
