van den Hoogen, William Herman
"Willie",65, passed away at his home in
McArras Brook ,Oct 18, 2014. He was born in Schaijk, Holland Oct 13,
1949, the son of the late William and Anna van der Zanden) van den
Hoogen.
Willie was a proud farmer for most of his life. In later
years, he turned his hands to boat building and the fishing
industries. He lived life with determination and courage. His
infectious smile and his powerful spirit will live with his family and
all those who knew him forever.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Rosa
(Heukshorst); his five girls: Michelle (Luke ) MacKinnon, Nicole
(Aaron) Rovers, Kelly, Amy (Dave) Maybee, Rachel (Randy) MacDonald;
his cherished grandchildren, to whom he was a loving Opa: Daniel,
Hugh, and Raymond MacKinnon; Hoogen, Amelia, and Thijs Rovers; Ella
Maybee and Avery MacDonald. Willie will be missed by his brothers:
Frank ( Shirley), Herman (Antonia), Joseph (Florence), Anthony (Ann);
sisters, Nellie (Robert) Smallbones, Joan (Angus) MacDonald; Frances
(John) Corsten; and sister-in-law Mary van den Hoogen.
He is predeceased by infant daughter Angela and oldest
brother Cor.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 2-4pm and
7-9pm on Monday at C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St.
Antigonish. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday at 11 am in St.
Margaret of Scotland Church, Arisag. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
