It is with heavy hearts that we announce
the passing of Evelyn Mary (Campbell) Bayne, of Clydesdale, Antigonish
County on October 18, 2014 at St. Martha's Regional Hospital,
Antigonish.
Evelyn was born in Baie Verte, New
Brunswick to Margaret (MacDonald) and Archibald Campbell. She spent
her early years living in New Brunswick before moving to Nova Scotia
and settling in Clydesdale.
At a young age,
Evelyn developed a love of nature and a strong connection with
animals. In her home, she had a keen interest in growing house plants
and flowers. Her family enjoyed the many loaves of bread, rolls, pies
and cookies she baked.
At a dance in the old
Clydesdale schoolhouse, Evelyn met the love of her life, James Forrest
Bayne. They married on July 5, 1945. Evelyn and Jim shared a very
devoted and loving relationship which extended to their five
children.
Evelyn worked in the housekeeping
department at St. Martha's for twenty-nine years where she formed
lifelong friendships with the "old gang."
She was predeceased by her husband of sixty-one years, James; and
was the last surviving member of her immediate family which included
her parents and her siblings, Mary, Billy, Bobby, Annie, Florence,
Margaret, Cora, George and Ida.
Evelyn leaves
behind five children, Margie (Donnie) Grant, Clydesdale, Tom (Sue)
Bayne, Rothesay, NB, Dorothy (Paul) Doiron, Clydesdale, Ronnie (Joan)
Bayne, Clydesdale, Kenny Bayne, Clydesdale. Nanny had twelve
grandchildren, Bernie, Evelyn (Ron), Stacy, Mary (Bryston), Daniel
(Kristy), Catherine (Matt), Robert (Beth), Brittany (Dave), Chelsie
(James), Shawna (Steve), Cayla (Justin), and Chance (Olivia), as well
as eleven great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Isaac, Makayla, Saul, Hunter,
Seth, Connor, Haven, Cedar, Ryker and Meredith. She is survived by
special sisters-in-law, Margaret Gillis, Antigonish, and Helen
Ferster, Newmarket, ON, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn deeply touched the hearts and souls of
everyone who knew and loved her. Her compassion, devotion, loyalty,
tender-heartedness and strength will always serve as beacons to those
she left behind. Evelyn, Mom, Nanny, we love you forever, and we put
our faith in the fact that you and Packa are reunited at last.

Gather at the River":
Soon we'll reach the shining
river,
soon our pilgrimage will
cease;
soon our happy hearts will quiver
with the melody of peace.
