Nickerson, Garry Edward, 60, of Marshy Hope, Pictou Co. passed away on October 19, 2014 at home

Born in New Glasgow he was the son of the late Lew and Shirley (Pelly) Nickerson.

Garry owned and operated Nickerson's Auto Salvage. He was a member of the Pictou County Antique Car club and the Antigonish Snow Dogs Snowmobile Club. He was a past member of the Federation of Foster Families. Garry was a chosen foster father and papa to many children that entered his home. For many years he drove a stock car at Riverside speedway. He loved to attend antique car shows. He also loved to bring smiles to people's faces on Christmas Eve when he drove around with his decorated tow truck

He is survived by his wife Marie (Ehler); children: Dennis (Suzannah), Marshy Hope; Cheryl (Chris), Glen Aire Estates; Jeremy (Abby) Antigonish; brothers: Lawrence ( Linda) Stellarton; Bobby Harrop, Marshy Hope; Tracy (Eileen), Antigonish; Stephen Larkham (Melanie) Trenton; sisters:  Alice (Earl) Einarson, Marshy Hope; Ethel (Gerard) Petipas, Marshy Hope; Anne (Tex) Gay, Island East River, Hilda George, Sydney; grandchildren: Gary (Samantha); Kelsey, Carmen (Kenzie Koteck), Andrew, Makayla, Jericho, Seilka, Miklo, Christian, Nicholas, great granddaughter Gabriella, as well as aunt Dorothy Hopkins, Woods Harbour, many brother and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Ronnie and stepmother Florence.

Visitation will be held in C.L.Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St, Antigonish on Wednesday from 7-9pm and Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral will be held in St. James United Church on Friday at 3pm with Reverend Sue Channen presiding. Burial in Glen Bard Cemetery, James River.
