It
is with heavy hearts that we regret to announce the passing of our
dear mother Muriel Margaret
MacLellan,
86, of Clydesdale. Muriel died peacefully at St. Martha’s
Regional Hospital on October 29, 2014 surrounded by family, and the
loving arms of her youngest daughter Helen and son in-law Brian Spin
who have dedicated numerous years of their lives to caring for her.
Born April 28, 1928, Muriel was raised by her grandmother Margaret
MacDonald in St. Andrews, where they worked together to run the
telegraph office. She later co-owned and operated a salvage yard in
Clydesdale with her husband William, where they worked hard to make
ends meet and raise their thirteen children. Muriel was a dedicated
mother and homemaker who also enjoyed farming, gardening, baking and
most of all spending time with family and friends. Her favorite
pastimes were trips over Brown’s Mountain with friends,
spending time with her cats, or playing cards with her family and good
friends Bill and Marion Bell.
She
is survived by sons; Allan (Mildred); Hughie; Karl; A.J. (Helen);
Allister (Lisa), all of Antigonish; Ronald (Wendy), Sherbrooke;
Cameron (Kathleen), New Brunswick; John (Colette), Alberta; and
daughters; Mary (Brian) Whalen; Marion (Jim) of Dartmouth; Diane
(Gary) of Annapolis Valley; Bertha (Dave) Vanderburgh; and Helen
(Brian) Spin of Antigonish; 28 grandchildren, and 6
great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her
beloved husband of 63 years, William Francis MacLellan, her
grandmother, and infant son.
