MacDonald, Anthony Leo "Tony"

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, grandfather and friend, Tony MacDonald. He was the son of the late Gert and Big Joe MacDonald of Brierly Brook.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Anna Cecelia "Tilly" MacDonald; his daughter, Wendy and her husband Bob, Petite Riviere; his son Shayne and his girlfriend Jillana, Dartmouth. He has two beautiful grandchildren, Nychaya and Taj. He is also survived by his sisters: Margaret Brown and Ellen Roy, Antigonish and brothers: Edwin, Burlington, Ont.; Francis (Evelyn) and Robert (Elaine), Antigonish.

He was predeceased by by his brother Joe and his sister Betty.

After Tony left home he had many an adventure traveling west with his best friend Lenny Mason. He spent many years sailing on the lake boats and spent time riding the rails with many a story to tell. He worked for many years as an iron worker in Hamilton, Ontario where he lost his arm and leg in an industrial accident in 1963. But that never slowed his down, he married the love of his life in November of that year and after moving home he started up his own wrought iron railing business and then went on to work for the Department of Transportation in Antigonish for many years. After his retirement, he went back out west to spend time with his children in Whistler, B.C. where he learned to snowboard at 57 years of age. He was an adventurer and a real family man. He was an amazing father, husband and friend to all. His real passion was construction and building and he spent countless hours on his 'camp' out in Beauly. He never 'turned a wheel' without Tilly and his dog Pepper. He will be forever in out hearts

Visitation in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass in St. Ninian Cathedral on Tuesday at 11:00 am with Reverend Andrew Boyd presiding.
