"Betty", Linwood
After a long, happy and faith filled life, our dear mother
Elizabeth Janet McKeough, age 96, passed to her eternal reward on
December 4, 2014.
Betty was born in Bayfield, Antigonish County, on September
3, 1918, daughter of the late John and Alice (Chisholm)
Connors.
Betty attended Bayfield School, Mabou Convent and the Normal
College, Truro. She was employed by the Antigonish District School
Board and taught at Antigonish East High School for seventeen
years.
Betty married John Joseph (Joe) McKeough in 1943. They moved
to Linwood where she and Joe lived married life for 60 years, raised
their family, welcomed visitors, enjoyed camping, cooking and playing
cards. Betty's life was filled with good friends and relatives, great
neighbors and family. Their love and support was with her daily until
the end.
In 2004 Betty moved to the Havre Boucher Senior's Complex
where she enjoyed the camaraderie of the other residents and nightly
card games. She remained there for eight years and then moved to
Milford Haven Home for Special Care where she was tenderly cared for
by the devoted staff until her passing.
Betty is survived by her children: Jack (Lynne), Dunnville,
Ont.; Len (Brenda), Linwood; Frank (Lorraine), Linwood Harbour; Loyola
"Lilie"(Sears) Forbes, Antigonish; Monica (Joe) White, Fort
McMurray, Alta.; thirteen grandchildren who showed great love and
support over the years; seventeen great grandchildren and three great
great grandchildren. Also mourning her loss are sisters: Kitty
MacFarlane, William's Point and Annie MacGillivray, Bayfield as well
as many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
Besides her parents and husband she was pre deceased by
sister, Mary MacGillivray; brothers: Reginald, Daniel and Eugene
Connors; great grandchild, Carl Cole and brothers,William, Joseph and
James, in infancy.
She was a member of St. Paul's Parish, Havre Boucher where
visitation will be held in St. Paul's Centre from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm
on Sunday, December 7th with Mass of Christian burial in St. Paul's
Church at 11:00 am on Monday with Father Allan MacPhie
presiding.
Family flowers only please. Donations in Betty's memory may
be made to St. Paul's Luncheon Fund or The Milford Haven Home for
