MACINNIS, LUCY J., 85,
of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, formerly of Greenwold Drive,
Antigonish, passed away on December 9, 2014 at the nursing
home.
Born in Belgium, Lucy was a daughter of the late
Emile and Suzanne (van de Weir)Pierard. When she was very young, she
and her family moved to Glace Bay where she lived all her early
years.
Lucy worked for many years as a library clerk in the
Music Room of St. Francis Xavier University Library. She coached the
Mount St. Bernard Girls Basketball Team and refereed games. She taught
swimming for the Red Cross and was also an avid bridge
player.
She is survived by sons: Michael (Rosalie), Lakevale;
Peter (Rita), Glace Bay; John (Cora), Lake Echo; Daughter, Anita
(Robert) Girroir, Fairmont; grandchildren: Lynn Tilley, Krista, Craig
and Justin MacInnis; Alison Girroir; nine great grandchildren and one
great, great granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael D.;
brother Emile.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday
in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Funeral
Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 2:00 pm in St. Ninian
Cathedral, Antigonish. Burial at a later
date.
