On the afternoon of Sunday, December 14, 2014, our family received the heartbreaking news that our sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, Audrey Hibbs, passed away in her Halifax home. She was 39.

Born in Fort Vermilion, AB, she was a daughter of Eleanor (MacDonald) and the late Louis Brosha, Lower South River.

An avid lover of reading, music, writing, friends, laughing, Tae Kwon Do, her family, and helping others, Audrey brightened the paths of many during her time spent in Alberta, Nova Scotia, South Korea, and British Columbia.

On Valentine's Day, 2002, Audrey's husband, Melvin, passed away in a tragic plane accident in Nova Scotia. A huge part of Audrey died that day with him. Over the past twelve years since that fateful day, Audrey has had her share of ups and downs, sharing in many good days, laughs, and days filled with light...as well as many that didn't pass as easily.

This week, the weight of her broken heart finally caught up to her, physically, after years of struggles with illness and addiction.

Audrey will be dearly missed by her large family; we know you've found your light again, Audrey.

She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Brosha, Lower South River;  siblings Dave (Erin), Long Creek, PEI;  Angela, Truro;  Kevin, Camrose, AB;  Stephen (Catherine) Dartmouth;  Tricia, Victoria, BC; nieces and nephews Grace, Abraham, Luke, Liam, and Lily;  grandmother, Teresa (PD) MacDonald, Antigonish, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Predeceased by her husband, Melvin; father, Louis, and grandparents, Arthur and Mabel Brosha, and P.D. MacDonald.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.  Funeral Mass will be Friday in St. Ninian Cathedral at 11:00am with Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding. Cremation to follow.  Burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Heatherton, at a later date.

In Memoriam, donations to the MS Society of Canada, Strait Richmond Healthcare Foundation (Addiction Services), or the Marguerite Centre appreciated.
