Vincent, Eugene
"Jess", 89, resident of the R.K. MacDonald
Nursing Home, Antigonish, passed away January 3, 2015, at St. Martha's
Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Moncton N.B., he was a son of the late Jesse Vincent
and Beatrice (Powers) Vincent.
Jess was a member of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion in
WWII. He worked at many jobs throughout his lifetime, including in the
nickel mines in Sudbury, Ont, and as a security guard, janitor, and
taxi driver in Antigonish. Jess loved the outdoors, gardening, and
fishing. He also loved playing guitar and singing and was a talented
woodworker.
Jess was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey, Estevan, Sask.; daughter, Tanya
Vincent (Lawrence Skinner), Antigonish; grandchildren, Stacey, Ottawa,
Ont., and Stephen, Jarrett, and Lauryn all of Antigonish;
daughter-in-law Dianna DeCoste, Antigonish; many nieces and
nephews
Predeceased by his wife, Rosalie; son Mark, Daughter
Catherine, brothers, Austin and Dave; sisters, Verna Baisley and Fay
Gallant.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at
C.L.Curry Funeral Home 135, College St., Antigonish. Funeral service
will take place on Wednesday at 2pm in C.L. Curry Funeral
Home.
