Melanson, Fred Joseph, 66, of Dunmore Road, Antigonish
County, passed away January 29, 2015, in St. Martha's Regional
Hospital, Antigonish surrounded by his family.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late John and Annie
Mae (Boudreau) Melanson.
Known as Freddie the Bread Man, he worked for Ben's (Canada
Bread) for 37 years. Freddie enjoyed all outdoor
activities. He was very close with his sisters and brother
and greatly enjoyed their visits.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marie (MacDonald),
daughter, Nicole (Roger) Zwicker, Cornwall, ON; son, Stephen
(Justine), Lower Sackville; grandson, Owen Melanson; sisters, Mary Ann
(Ronald) Horne, Bernadette, and Lorraine, all of Antigonish, brother,
Leonard (Bev), Hopewell; niece, Denise Horne; and nephew, David
Horne.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather,
Robert Benoit.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be
held Monday in St. Andrew's Church, St. Andrews, at 10:30 am with
Reverend Charles Cameron presiding.
