Murphy, Vincent Norbert, 76, of Antigonish passed away suddently on January 29, 2015, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Lanark, he was a son of the late Patrick and Sophie (DeYoung) Murphy.

Vince worked with security at StFX from 1972 until he retired in 2001. Prior to this, he worked with Gotschall's Painting and Reddy's Esso. Vince enjoyed taking drives with his family and his dog, Duke. He also enjoyed handyman work, especially painting, and was willing to help anyone at any time. Vince loved attending the antique car show in Truro every year with his son, John.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda (MacPherson); son, John V. (Connie), Debert; and granddaughter, Rebecca Sophie Lin, whom he adored. He is also survived by siblings, Mary Jane (Ed Stribny), Toledo, Ohio, Joe (Lillian), Lanark, Dominic, Montreal, Isabel MacDonald, Ballantyne's Cove; sisters-in-law, Sr. Sally Lays, Bethany Motherhouse, Tina O'Brien, Alberta, Judy MacPherson, Merigomish, and Patsy MacPherson, Montreal; brothers-in-law, David Mattie, Antigonish, and Louie MacEachern, Cape George; and special cousin, Sheila DeYoung-Honeycutt.

Predeceased by his grandson, David James Patrick; brothers Dominic and William in infancy, and Rudolph (Paulette) DeYoung; sister, Ann MacEachern; foster sister, Jean Boyd; sisters-in-law, Jackie Murphy, Theresa Lays, Agnes Lays, Margaret Lays, and Kaye Cormier; and brothers-in-law Gussie MacDonald and Alex Lays.

Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place in St. Ninian Cemetery in the spring.
