Wall, Robert Vincent, 61, of
Chisholm Street, Antigonish, died suddenly on February
6th, 2015 at St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he was the eldest
son of the late Clare (White) and Vincent Wall.
After completing a year of Engineering at Memorial University
with the Canadian Militia, Robert joined the Royal Canadian Mounted
Police in July of 1973, where he served as a Peace Officer for 25
years and received several honours including the St. John Ambulance
Meritorious Award by the Governor General of Canada for saving a
person’s life (1980). During this time, he held senior
positions with the Kinsmen Club of Antigonish including President,
Vice-President, Secretary, Director and Public Relations Chairman
(1983-1998), served as a Master Instructor, Vice-President, Treasurer
and Member of the Nova Scotia Hunter and Firearms Safety Program and
Education Instructors Association (1984-1998), was a member of the
Canadian Sport Parachuting Association, achieved his Bachelor of
Business Administration at St. Francis Xavier University (1990), and
completed Level B French language training (1996). Following his
retirement from the RCMP in 1998, he completed his Bachelor of
Information Systems from St. Francis Xavier University with First
Class Honours (2000). He loved the outdoors and enjoyed travelling,
camping, fishing, and canoeing with his family, was a lifelong learner
who always had his nose in a book, and enjoyed cooking for friends and
family immensely.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 30
years, Isabel, daughter Lindsay (Shane) Burns, brother Wayne (Leslie),
sisters: Sandy Wall, Deborah Power (John Hanson), Karen (Dick)Young ,
sisters- and brother-in-law, and many nieces and
nephews.
He is predeceased by his mother, Clare, and father,
Vincent.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February
13th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in C.L. Curry Funeral
Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish and a Celebration of Life will
follow on Saturday, February 14th at 10:00 am
in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, led by Lindsay Burns. Donations can be
