Gillis, John Francis, age 98, of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, passed away at the nursing home on March 17, 2015

Born in Glen Road, Antigonish Co. he was the son of the late Hughie and Catherine (Cameron) Gillis.

John F. was a kind, hard working man. His wife Agnes, died at an early age leaving him to bring up a young family. He loved playing cards and walking. He was a familiar site at the Antigonish Landing.

He is survived by daughters: Anne Marie (Darrell) Randall, Antigonish; Theresa Gillis, Antigonish; Rose (Everett) Mattie, Monastery; sons, Eddie, New Glasgow; Angus, Antigonish; Anthony, Sheet Harbour; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by his wife Agnes (Feltmate), brothers, Donald and Phonsie, and sister Isabel.

Visitation will be on Friday  from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in C.L.Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11:00am in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding.
