Doiron, Julia Clara, 87, Pomquet. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Julia Clara Doiron, our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher, and friend who died on June 9th in her home.

Born in Margaree, Cape Breton, on August 13, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Arsene and Rose Anne (Cormier) LeBlanc.

Julia received her her early education in Margaree, Cheticamp, and Margaree Forks. She was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Teachers College and also St. Francis Xavier University. She was a well known teacher, very active in the field of education, and very involved in her community. She was a member of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union (and represented her school on the executive), the Pomquet Ladies Club, Winter Carnival, Les Femmes Acadiennes, Le Club des Ainees de Pomquet et de la Nouvelle Ecosse, and La Societé Ste. Croix de Pomquet. She also served on the executive of the Town and County Home Care, The Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, World Peace, and CNIB. She was a devoted member of the Ste. Croix Parish Church and served as lector and Eucharistic Minister for many years. She was honoured by the Conseil de la Vie Français en Amérique for her devotion to the French culture and language and also as a result of this devotion received honourary degrees from L'Ecole Acadienne de Pomquet and La Federation Acadienne de la Nouvelle Ecosse.

After 36 years of teaching, Julia started a pre-school called "Le Club des Petits" in order to give young children basic knowledge of French.

Her door was open to anyone, always ready with something delicious to share with a cup of tea. She was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need, even strangers. Knitting, sewing, quilting, walking, writing in her diary, and a good game of cribbage were her pastimes, as well as working in her garden and especially doing her lawn.

In her later years her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her sons; Ronnie (Rosemarie), Pomquet, and Richard of Antigonish; grandchildren, Melinda (Cameron Brackenbury), Matthew (Ashley Fraser) and Janelle (Kenneth Cameron); great grandchildren Ethan, Caleb, and Amelia Marie; brothers Levi, Joseph (Thelma), Louie (Charlotte); sisters, Mary Louise, Theresa (Robert) Deveau and Zoe; sister-in-law Edmee and brother-in-law, Simon Peter (Julia); and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, Anthony; brother Francis; sisters, Annie Rose, Lucie Mae, and Lucie Marie in infancy; sister-in-law Mary Hattie LeBlanc; brothers-in-law, Simon Fougere, Clarence Phillips, and Gerard Legere.

Special thanks to her loving family and friends, Dr. MacCormick (Oncology), Dr. Maureen Allen, and Frances Chisholm, RN (Palliative Care) and Lawton's Pharmacy Staff for all your support and care.

Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, in Ste. Croix Church at 11:00am, Rev. Bill Crispo presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.

Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to the Pomquet Development Society, Ste. Croix Parish Community Centre, or the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com
