Bowie, William Joseph "Bill", 67, of Antigonish, formerly of Lower West River, Antigonish Co. passed away peacefully on June 22, 2015, in St Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish after a brief illness.

Born on April 9, 1948 he was the eldest son of the late John D. and Veronica (MacDonald) Bowie.

Bill led a quiet simple life. He was known for his craftsmanship in ornamental canes and wood carvings. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul and The Friendship Corner among other organizations.

He is survived by sisters: Mary (Philip) Connolly, Guysborough Intervale; Elaine (Kenny) Mason, Lower West River; brothers: Allan (Jean), Sussex Corner, NB.; Douglas, Lower West River; Jim (Gail), Grande Prairie, AB; Gordon (Terri), Truro; John (Darlene), Alliston, Ont; Mike (Ruth), Bedford; Albert (Dawn), Maugerville, NB; Philip (Laurie), London, Ont; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Anthony Daniel.

Visitation will be held Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 11:00 am in St. Ninian Cathedral with Rev. Andrew Boyd presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Members of St. Ninian Council 1105 of the Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at the funeral home at 6:30 on Thursday for prayers for their late brother.
