Christie, Bertha Lillian, Pinevale. It is with sadness that we announce that Bertha Lillian (Smith) Christie passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her large and extended family on Monday, June 22, 2015 at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Borneo, Country Harbour, Guysborough Co., she was the daughter of Alex Peter Smith and Lena Margaret (Malloy) Smith.

Bertha spent her life making a comfortable home in Pinevale, where she delighted in serving large family meals and having crowds of happy people around her. She loved BINGO and enjoyed her dozens of BINGO buds, and she loved to laugh.

She is sadly missed by sons: Jack (Jean), Kitchener, Ont; Joseph (Tish), Dartmouth; Lloyd (Rose) West River; Dennis (Sheree), Purl Brook; nephew Bill (Mona), Heatherton; daughters: Marjorie (Russell) MacHattie, Copper Lake; Gladys (Buddy) Archibald, Lochaber; Judy (Robert) Fogarty, Glen Alpine; June (John) Brosha, Salt Springs; Lena Murphy, Calgary; sister Lillian (Joseph) Guthro in Glace Bay, and daughter-in-law Evelyn Christie; 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd A. Christie, son Lee Terrence Christie, daughters, Alice Lydia, and Alice Eileen (in infancy), and grand-daughter Melinda Fogarty MacDonald, brothers Walter, John, Alex, Scott, MacRitchie, Bill, and two brothers in infancy; sisters, Maragret (MacLeod) Mason, Stella Smith, Muriel Smith, Bessie (Harold) Worth, and Sadie (Grant) Mason.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St. Antigonish. Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11:am in Lochaber United Church. Reverend Meredith Marple presiding. Burial in the North Lochaber Cemetery at a later date.
