Swinkels, Maria Petronella "Mary", 93, of Afton, Antigonish Co. passed away peacefully on August 1, 2015, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish, with her family by her side.

Born in Asten, Holland, she was a daughter of the late Pete and Josephine van den Boer.

Mary was the pillar of her family and a true inspiration to us all. An avid gardner, she was well known for her flowers. Mary was a friendly and unmatched hostess who met all her guests with food, comfort, and a warm smile.

She is survived by her children, John (Debbie), Bayfield; Peter (Niki), Truro; Martin (Brenda) Afton; Mario (Sandra), Antigonish; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband, Harry; daughter, Josie; and grandson, Jonathan.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in C.L.Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, with Reverend Charles Cameron presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
