MacDonald, Douglas A., 58,
of Bantry Lane, Antigonish, and formerly of Bailey's Brook, died
suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday August 2, in St. Martha's Regional
Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in
Antigonish on May 2, 1957, he was a son of Agnes (Bowie) and the late
John J. MacDonald.
Doug worked in
the forestry industry for many years, but his passion was for lobster
fishing. He got his first fishing licence at the age of 25 and was
very involved in the local fishing community. Doug was known for his
sense of humour, his green thumb, and his keen mind. He had a natural
and insatiable curiousity and was often conducting ambitious projects.
Doug had a deep love of family, and he was interested in learning
about everybody and everything.
He
is survived by the love of his life, his wife Donna (Rennie); his
children of whom he was so very proud, David, Ryan, and Breanna, all
at home; mother, Agnes, Glenhaven Manor; brothers Bill (Suzanne),
Surrey, BC, and Francis, Port Moody, BC; sisters, Mary (Roy) Simpson,
Murrieta, California, and Margaret (Ian) Rhyno, MacLellans Brook;
sister-in-law, Catherine MacDonald, Pine Tree;
father-and-mother-in-law, Alfred "Sonny" and Marguerite
Rennie, Pomquet; sisters-in-law, Charmaine (Kevin) Potter, Belmont,
and Sandra Rennie, Three Mile Plains; and many nieces and
nephews.
Predeceased by
his father, John, brothers, Lewis and Rod, sisters-in-law, June and
Nora; and brother-in-law, Ian.
Visitation
will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to
9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 11:00am in St. Ninian Cathedral,
with Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in St. Mary's
Cemetery, Lismore.
