MacDonald, Douglas A., 58, of Bantry Lane, Antigonish, and formerly of Bailey's Brook, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday August 2, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Antigonish on May 2, 1957, he was a son of Agnes (Bowie) and the late John J. MacDonald.

Doug worked in the forestry industry for many years, but his passion was for lobster fishing. He got his first fishing licence at the age of 25 and was very involved in the local fishing community. Doug was known for his sense of humour, his green thumb, and his keen mind. He had a natural and insatiable curiousity and was often conducting ambitious projects. Doug had a deep love of family, and he was interested in learning about everybody and everything.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Donna (Rennie); his children of whom he was so very proud, David, Ryan, and Breanna, all at home; mother, Agnes, Glenhaven Manor; brothers Bill (Suzanne), Surrey, BC, and Francis, Port Moody, BC; sisters, Mary (Roy) Simpson, Murrieta, California, and Margaret (Ian) Rhyno, MacLellans Brook; sister-in-law, Catherine MacDonald, Pine Tree; father-and-mother-in-law, Alfred "Sonny" and Marguerite Rennie, Pomquet; sisters-in-law, Charmaine (Kevin) Potter, Belmont, and Sandra Rennie, Three Mile Plains; and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his father, John, brothers, Lewis and Rod, sisters-in-law, June and Nora; and brother-in-law, Ian.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 11:00am in St. Ninian Cathedral, with Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lismore.

Family flowers only, please. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary's Cemetery Fund or the Lodge That Gives appreciated.
