Wilkie, Louisa Gerarda Maria "Lucy", age 79, of Tracadie, Antigonish County, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2019 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Gemert, Netherlands, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Louisa (Schats) Soontiens.

Lucy enjoyed spending time outdoors walking and did yoga every day.  She enjoyed reading and cooking, especially trying new recipes.  She loved dancing with her husband and bike riding.  Family was everything to Lucy, especially her children and grandchildren, and she loved her travels with her sisters.  Most recently, Lucy lived at Parkland Antigonish, and she was grateful for the community she found there.

She is survived by her children, Carol Wilkie (Cash MacDonald), Mahoney’s Beach; Larry (Olga), Lantz; Donica (Dean) Wilkie-Morrow, Edmonton; Heidi (Shawn) Stewart, Ottawa; grandchildren, George (Lindsey) Bowie, Rieneke (Jerry) Mattie, Angelica (Adam) Laybolt, Matthew (Danielle) Wilkie; Adam (Kyla) Wilkie, Kaitlyn Wilkie (Beau), Shawn Wilkie (Jana Rebrova), Greg (Laura) Wilkie, Jeremy Wilkie, Stacey (Ronnie) Wilkie, Kelsey (Zach) Wilkie, Haley Paul, Naomi Paul, Logan Stewart, and MacKenzie Stewart; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anne (late Sjeff) Vriend, Mieke (David), Martin, Elizabeth (late Al) McGregor, Ilonka Soontiens, and Josie Soontiens; brothers, Harry (Cathy), Barry (Sharon), and Leon (Paulette); and a large extended family.

Predeceased by her husband, Elwood, son, Elwood, Jr.; brothers, Louis and Francis.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.  Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 1:30pm in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie, Fr. John Barry presiding.  Burial in the parish cemetery at a late date.
