It is with regret that we announce the great loss of a
husband, father, grandfather, Ian F. MacDonald, who passed away at his
home on April 29, 2021.
Born in Tusket, Yarmouth County, he was the son of the late
Alisdair and Geraldine (Martin) MacDonald.
Ian worked as an electrician at Stora Forest Industries for
over thirty years. While electrician was his trade, he was a
true Jack of all Trades. He would eagerly tackle just about
any project put before him and do it well. He especially enjoyed
passing his skills along to his boys. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed
time on his boat, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling and in his
younger years he was a top-level down hill skier as well as a track
and field athlete. Ian will be missed by many and fondly
remembered for his quick wit.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila (Mattie); sons: Mark
(Felicia), Linwood; Parry (Bethany), Labrador; Steven (Gena), Arisaig
and Gordon (Heather), William’s Point; grandchildren:
Caitlyn, Alex, Emily and Rylan; sister, Marie (Blaine) Mattie,
Georgeville; brothers: Art, Port Hawkesbury and Mike (Linda),
Dartmouth.
Due to covid 19 restrictions there will be no public
visitation. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Ninian
Cathedral on Monday with a live stream link to funeral Mass available
on this website at 11:00 am. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
