Edward Googoo (Bun) age 43 of Paqtnkek Mi'kmaw Nation passed away at the New Halifax Infirmary, Halifax on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Born in Antigonish, he was the son of Elizabeth (Betty) Googoo and the Late Edward Lafford.

Edward worked mainly in the oil fields in Western Canada as a Roughneck. He enjoyed both playing and watching sports (Let’s go Detroit!) and outdoorsman activities, especially fishing salmon. He had a great sense of humour and always had a smile. As a teenager, he made the pilgrimage to Medjugorje.

Besides his mother, he is survived by sons: Zachary and Austin, both of Halifax; sisters Sherry Ann Googoo (Todd), Eskasoni and Doris Googoo, Paqtnkek; and brothers Earl Lafford (Darlene), and Byron, both of Paqtnkek.

Besides his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Noel Edward Googoo.

Visitation will be held at 20 Petow Loop Extension, Paqtnkek after 4pm on Monday with additional visitation periods Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening. Covid restrictions will apply.

A private family Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 11am in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton with Reverend Andrew Gillies presiding. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live on the funeral home’s website. Burial to follow in Saint Anne’s Cemetery, Summerside.

Memorial Donations may be made to Metro Turning Point, Barrington Street, Halifax.
