Perry, Roy Joseph, age 84, of Monastery, Antigonish County, passed away on February 28, 2022, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Tignish, Prince Edward Island, he was the son of the late Delore and Florence Perry.

Throughout his working life, Roy was primarily a lobster fisherman, but his trade expanded to include the tuna, ground fish and moss industries.  An avid woodworker, detail was shown in his work with many of his projects having a fishing flair, exhibiting intricate detail. Roy took great pride in knowing the home he and Barbara raised their children was built with his very own hands. However as busy as he was, all would come to a halt at 6pm for the CTV News and anytime there was an offer to play cards which he so passionately loved.

He is survived by his son Shawn, Tracadie; daughter Kimberly (Christian), Calgary; grandchildren Lucas, Caleb and Paige; brother Wilson, Monastery; sister Melvina, PEI, and sister Irma in Brampton, Ontario.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Barbara; sister Lottie; brother Melvin; and grandson Craig.

Visitation will be held at C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish, on Friday March 4th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.  A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday March 5th at 11am with Reverend John Barry presiding. The funeral will be streamed live and hosted on the funeral home website. Burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation.
