It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful
passing of our mother, Colette (Stewart) MacDonald of Antigonish, on
June 22nd, two days after her 78th birthday. Mom lived and
died at home, exactly where she wanted to be, with her family and
devoted caregiver Haydee by her side.
Born in Crossroads Ohio, Antigonish County, she was a
daughter of the late Duncan and Catherine (MacLean)
Stewart.
Mom was truly the center of our family, and she lived her
life with dignity and poise. Her love of children was
paramount, starting with her own children and grandchildren and
extending to 30 years of providing daycare, a calling which has led to
many enduring friendships. Upon her retirement, she worked at
Trendy’s, enjoying her time with her co-workers and the
customers. Her deep faith in God and love of family and
friends cultivated her values of respect, kindness, forgiveness, and
unconditional love. Mom loved nothing more than gathering
with family and friends, and we will all miss
"Colette’s Cookies".
She leaves behind to mourn her daughter Jackie (Peter)
Cameron, Southside Harbour; sons, Stewart, Nanaimo, BC; Eddie
(Heather), Porters Lake, NS; Scott (Mélanie), Ottawa; Jason
(Lisa), Port Hope, ON; and Daniel (Meghan), Ottawa; grandchildren,
Edward Allan, Catherine, John, Drayden, Annie, Nolan, Jillian,
Alexander, Brynleigh, and Annabelle whom she called "the
babies". Her siblings Mary Ann (Harry) Vieno, Boston, MA;

Chiasson, Dartmouth, NS; Anita (Jim) MacDonald, Regina, SK; Betty
(late Milton) Murray, Gaspreaux Lake, NS; Kenneth (Helen), Antigonish,
NS; Marguerite (Malcolm) Beaton, Mabou, NS; Sandy (Pat), Antigonish;

Anne, Helen, Margie, Kate, Christine, and Maureen; and
brother-in-law, Kenny and their families; and many nieces and nephews
whom she loved and cherished.
She is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, John, and
brother Johnny who died at the tender age of 13.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in
C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday in St. Ninian Cathedral,
Antigonish, at 11:00am with Reverend Danny MacLennan
presiding. The funeral will be recorded and made available
on the funeral home website.
Mom fought the good fight and will be laid rest beside her
husband, John, in St. Ninian Cemetery – together free of
illness and disease, which we will celebrate.
