Keefe, Michael
Thomas "Tom", age 61, of Williams Point, Antigonish County,
passed away on November 21, 2022, after a courageous fight with cancer
in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital,
Antigonish.
Born in Canso,
he was a son of the late Clarence Thomas and Theresa Kathleen
(Boudreau) Keefe.
A caring,
generous man with a big smile, Tom was the type of person who wore his
heart on his sleeve. He knew how to make people laugh and was always
quick with a joke even if it was at his own expense. Tom met
the love of his life, Cindy, in high school, and they spent the next
45 years raising 3 beautiful sons whilst creating wonderful
memories. A loving husband and awesome father, he adored his
grandchildren and truly savoured every moment spent with them. Tom
held a special place in his heart for nieces Renee and Lauren and
thought of them as daughters. While Tom worked for many years in
different retail stores, it was when he became a heavy equipment
operator that he truly found his passion. Tom was also an
avid sports fan (Habs), and very competitive in nature no matter the
game; but he couldn’t hide his displeasure when losing to
Cindy in cards.
He is survived
by his wife, Cindy (Haines); children, Merle (Laura), Clydesdale;
Michael (Kelly), Halifax; Steven, Williams Point; grandchildren, Rory
and Rosa; special nieces, Lauren and Renee; siblings, Mary (Kevin)
Zinck; Eddie (April); Gerald (Jenny); Agnes Keefe (Dennis George);
Toby (Donald) George; and Juanita Keefe; brothers-and-sisters-in-law,
Harold (Genesta), Georgina (Gordon) Hughes, Mary Jean
(François) Rochon, Lois Richard (Christian), Alfred, Sally,
Danny (Debbie), Kay, and Kim (Allan) Baillie; and many nieces and
nephews.
Predeceased by
his brother, Merle; sister, April; mother-and-father-in-law, Rose and
John Haines; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Mooring and Karen Haines; and
brothers-in-law, Carl Mooring and Carmen
Haines.
Cremation has
taken place. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street,
Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11:00am in
St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Reverend Daniel MacLennan
presiding. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
In Memoriam,
