Connolly, Cyril Jerome, age 92, Truro, formerly of Heatherton, died peacefully in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on November 28, 2022, surrounded by family.
Born in Guysborough Intervale in 1930, to Edward Michael and Christina Anne (Chisholm) Connolly, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Cyril and his wife, Grace, settled, and raised their family in Heatherton where they were involved in many community events. It was there that he started the construction companies that allowed him to employ many people and make friends in many parts of Atlantic Canada and Quebec.
At age 65, Cyril and Grace moved to Truro where he stayed active gardening, joining the Truro Duplicate Bridge Club, researching genealogy, and always reading a good book. Twelve years ago, Cyril suffered a stroke but was still able to get out, enjoy games and family gatherings, and watch deer from his chair near the window.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Grace (Chisholm) Connolly; daughters: Debbie (Gerry); Janet; Karen; Linda; Cathy; Valerie (Mark); Kimberly; Angela (Randy) and his son Michael (Rhonda); twenty-two grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Ronald, Kenneth, Eric, John, Leonard; and a sister, Irene. Also predeceased by a daughter, Claire and a great grandson, Arlo.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Singh and the VON for their wonderful care during difficult times as well as the doctors and nurses and care team of the Palliative Care Unit, Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 5th at 11:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Truro. Burial in Bible Hill Cemetery.
