With great sadness we announce the death of Ann Marie MacHattie, age 65, of Copper Lake, Antigonish County on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.

Ann Marie was the youngest child of the late Hazel (Richardson) and Jack Kennedy of Ogden, Guysborough County.

As a Canada Post mail carrier for 41 years, Ann Marie was a much beloved, personal friend to all those whom she served. A constant presence in everyone's daily life, she went above and beyond dropping in daily on some of those seniors who were alone and could not get to their boxes.  Everyone said that they could set their clocks by her, she was that reliable. Ann Marie loved staying busy, if she wasn’t found outside working in her yard she would be inside using her talents.  Whether it was knitting, making pickles, jams and jellies, toll painting, making wreaths, refinishing furniture or some other project, it seemed there was no task she would not attempt and succeed with.  She loved the home in Copper Lake that she and Brian devoted so much time to restoring and maintaining. A historic house (the birth place of RK MacDonald) that had stood for over 200 years. After losing Brian, she showed us all how tough she could be continuing to live in the same home they both adored. She had become a cherished nanny to six grandchildren who were her pride and joy. We as well as many more friends and family will cherish her dearly.

She will be greatly missed by her children Ashley, his wife Claire and their children Jared and Bria, Lochaber; Elissa Cormier, her husband Steven and their children Brian and Sophie, Ste-Marie-de-Kent, NB; Holly Kyle, her husband Kameron, their children Lukas and Landon, Beaverlodge, AB; her siblings, Rose (Malcolm) Reid, Kingston, ON; Bertha Chisholm, North Ogden; Nina (Raymond) Halloran, Guysborough; John (Pauline) Kennedy, Fraser’s Mills; Sheila MacDonald, Calgary, AB; Greg (Gertie) Kennedy, Fraser's Mills; William Kennedy, Ogden; Florence (Buddy) Murphy, Lochaber; brother in law Melvin MacDonald and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her loving husband Brian; brothers Joe and Bernie; sisters, Mary MacDonald, Judy Budgell and Phyllis MacDonald; brothers-in-law: Allan B. MacDonald, Fred Chisholm, Rod MacDonald, George MacHattie; sister-in-law Annabelle Kennedy; son-in-law Jason MacDonald and nephews, Dale Kennedy, Duncan MacDonald, and Trevor MacHattie.

Visitation will be held 2 to 4pm and 7-9 pm Wednesday, December 7 in C. L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.   A Celebration of Life will be held 10 am Thursday December 8 in C. L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Burial in Burns Cemetery, Copper Lake.
